
5th International Humor Exhibition Organ Donation -Brazil 2025
REGULATIONS
1 – INTRODUCTION
The GABRIEL Institute invites graphic humorists and interested parties to participate in the 5th International Humor Show on Organ Donation. Our goal is to promote awareness and sensitivity about organ and tissue donation through graphic humor. Join us in this important initiative!
2-OBJECTIVES
Participants in this International Exhibition are invited to use their artistic and humorous vision to raise awareness among the population about the importance of organ and tissue donation to save lives, highlighting the nobility of this gesture of love and solidarity. Through their works, graphic comedians have the mission of promoting a deep reflection on organ donation.
3-DATES
Registration: from May 5, 2025 to August 1, 2025, at 11:59 pm – Brasília time, only online through the link www.gabriel.org.br/salao-de-humor;
Selection of works made by the Selection Jury: from August 10, 2025 to August 20, 2025;
Announcement of selected artists: August 30, 2025;
Selection of works made by the Award Jury: from September 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025;
Awards: October 23, 2025, ceremony broadcast on Youtube:

Opening of the Humor Salon and start of the virtual exhibition: from October 24, 2025.
Note: the selected works will be exhibited during the virtual Salon on the GABRIEL Institute website and later, in traveling exhibitions.
4 – PARTICIPATION
Registration is open to all graphic artists, professionals or amateurs, aged 18 or over.
Registration is free.
5- PRESENTATION OF WORKS
All works in all categories must be submitted online in A-4 format (210X297mm) at 300dpi, produced using any technique, including graphics software, CMYK color mode, in JPG or PNG format, with a maximum size limit of 10.0 MB. We would like to point out that works that use ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE will NOT be accepted.
6- NUMBER OF WORKS
Up to five original works will be accepted per category, in a single registration format. If the participant exceeds this number, the organization will exclude the duplicate registration.
7- CATEGORIES
Cartoon – Entrants must create works that address the theme of Organ Donation, without resorting to visual puns involving musical and human organs. It is crucial to avoid depictions that could disparage patients on the transplant list or stigmatize specific groups.
❖ Cartoon – in this category, participants are challenged to produce critical and humorous graphic representations of political and social facts related to the proposed theme. Cartoons must avoid any form of stereotype or prejudice towards donors, recipients or professionals involved in the organ donation/transplant process.
INTERNATIONAL
Caricature In this edition, the Humor Show pays tribute to Dr. Christiaan Barnard, a notable and fundamental figure in the history of medicine. He was a South African cardiac surgeon who performed the world’s first person-to-person heart transplant operation. We provide reference images for the production of the works on the Humor Show website.
8 – AWARDS
Five prizes totaling R$4,500.00 will be awarded as follows:
Two 10th places, worth R$1,000.00 each, distributed between the cartoon and charge categories.
Three 20th places, worth R$500.00 each, distributed among the cartoon, charge and caricature categories.
Valdir de Carvalho Special Prize for caricature – 1st place worth R$1,000.00 and 2nd place worth R$500.00.
All categories will also have three Honorable Mentions (certificates) totaling 9 mentions. In addition to the aforementioned awards, additional prizes may also be awarded to participants by the event’s sponsors and supporters.
9 – VALDIR DE CARVALHO AWARD
The Valdir de Carvalho Award was created to honor the co-founder of the GABRIEL Institute and aims to award works on specific themes that will be suggested to artists who will be able to register their creations at the same time.
For the 50th International Organ Donation Humor Show in 2025, the Valdir de Carvalho Award will be granted through the caricature category, as described in item 7 of these rules. The winners of this category will receive a prize of R$1,000.00 for 1st place and R$500.00 for 20th place.
10-JUDGMENT
The Selection Jury will be composed of representatives of the GABRIEL Institute who will select the works according to the requirements of these regulations.
The Award Jury will be composed of healthcare professionals involved in the donation and transplant process, graphic artists and invited activists for the cause, and the decisions will be incontestable and irrevocable.
The jury reserves the right not to award prizes to categories that do not reach a sufficient level, transferring them to other categories, or creating a special prize in the Salon for this purpose.
The prizes will be accrued to the GABRIEL Institute.
If the Award Jury finds any type of fraud or plagiarism in one or more entries, it may cancel the award. The entries will be published on the Exhibition website immediately after the opening and may be contested up to 10 days after the opening, with reasonable evidence of any irregularity.
In the event of a tie, the Selection Jury will be responsible for the tiebreaker criteria.
Other prizes and mentions may be instituted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.
Works that do not comply with the regulations or are plagiarized will be automatically disqualified.
Works that use collage techniques with images that are not of the author’s own authorship or that are not public domain images will also be automatically disqualified.
11- REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION OF WORKS
Submissions must be made via the website https://www.gabriel.org.br/salao-de-humor/inscricao/
Only works and registration forms sent via the Humor Exhibition’s own form will be accepted.
The registration form must be completed in full.
INTERNATIONAL
The works must be submitted via the GABRIEL Institute website as described above in item 5 Submission of Works, and these files must be duly identified, with the author’s name, name of the work and state of origin. The participant must submit their works by category together in order to facilitate the work of the judging committee, totaling a maximum of 15 works per registration.
Incomplete applications will be rejected by the organization.
All participants will receive an automatic email response regarding the submission of applications.
12- GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
The works that are sent will automatically be considered part of the Salon collection and will not be returned.
The selected works will be reproduced for exhibitions, promotion and virtual catalogue.
The GABRIEL Institute is not responsible for non-receipt of works received due to technical reasons and/or poor conditions and/or incorrect identification thereof. In cases not covered by these regulations, the organizing committee will decide the solution.
By registering with the Humor Show, the author automatically transfers the Copyright of his/her work(s), acquisitively, in a total, universal and definitive manner, in all forms of use and free of charge, which becomes part of the assets of the Humor Show on Organ Donation for all legal purposes.
The ASSIGNOR(S) of the works that will participate assign the copyright on the WORK, granting to the GABRIEL Institute, for all intents and purposes and in the best form of law, free of charge, irrevocably, irrevocably and non-exclusively, the patrimonial rights related to the WORK participating in the competition. The assignment object of this term includes the right of the GABRIEL Institute to use the WORK, as it deems fit under any modality and exhibition, including reproduction, dissemination, production

media or any other means, as long as it is intended for services that benefit the institution and the cause of organ and tissue donation.
By registering, the competitor agrees and accepts these rules.
